We just returned on Monday from a lovely weekend away with friends.
Our hubbies played golf in the early early morning and my dear friend and I spent the morning waking up leisurely and trotting down to breakfast and then on to the Spa! We then all got together for lunch and spent the rest of the day and evening with our spouse...
It was fabulous! I recommend to all of you... going away for the weekend to Austin. We stayed at the Barton Creek resort! Beautiful place, we forgot for the weekend that we were still in Texas.
We truly rested and relaxed.
Harold and I have made it a practice in our marriage (29 years this august) to go away for 3 or 4 day weekends. I truly believe this has kept our marriage fresh over the years. There is something about spending time alone away from home and work.... When our kids were smaller we would take a vacation with them and then run off on weekends alone. Now that we are empty nesters we can go more often.
These couple weekends are oxygen to our marriage...
Many couples become uncomfortable with each other, can't seem to look each other in the eye...can't seem to hold hands anymore...don't know how to laugh with each other... Have forgotten what it was that made you fall in love with each other...
My recommendation is to try a little R&R.....forget your problems, forget the stress, forget the busyiness and enjoy one another. Ladies teach your men to drop everything and go away for a weekend! If you are not used to it..start now! You owe it to that lovely boy you married when you both were young and in love!
